Do you dream of floating above the vineyards, seeing the valley as you’ve never seen it before, and experiencing an adrenaline rush… safely? This guide brings together everything you need to know for your first tandem paragliding flight with Parazone: how to prepare, what the experience is like, what to bring, and what to do next if the flying bug bites you. 😉
Who is Tandem Flight For?
For everyone (or almost)! Tandem flight is accessible, supervised, and requires no experience. You’ll be attached to one of our certified pilots; all you have to do is walk a few steps at takeoff, sit back comfortably, and enjoy the view.
General Requirements
- Minimum age according to the activity (minors accompanied by a parent/guardian).
- Weight and physical condition within the equipment’s safe ranges.
- No prior flying experience required.
Good to know: Parazone also offers a Discovery package (shuttle ride to the summit, explanations, photos) for those who want to see how it works first.
Booking: Choosing Your Slot and Understanding the Weather
Paragliding is a sport 100% dependent on the weather. When you book:
- Choose the proposed time slot; we will confirm the safest window.
- In case of unflyable conditions (wind too strong, rain, etc.), we will reschedule – safety comes first.
- Come with an “outdoor” mindset: we adapt to the mountain!
What to Bring?
Clothing & Equipment
- Closed-toe shoes with good soles (hiking/sneaker type).
- Windbreaker/softshell depending on the season (at altitude, the air is cooler).
- Sunglasses, sunscreen.
- Water, small snack.
- Charged phone (to capture the landing and share your memories).
Specific equipment (helmet, harness, wing, radio) is provided by Parazone.
D-Day: Typical Experience Flow
1) Welcome at the site
- Meet at the vineyard reception point during opening hours.
- Team introduction, safety briefing, and quick check of your condition.
2) Ascent to Takeoff
- Shuttle to the summit with the pilot (Discovery package: shuttle + explanations).
- On site: observation of the windsock, wind direction, identification of the takeoff area.
3) Equipment & Preparation
- Putting on the helmet and harness (seat).
- Review of instructions: position for takeoff/landing, simple code “walk / release / sit down.”
- Cross-check safety (harness, leg straps, lines, wing, radio).
4) Takeoff
- The pilot inflates the wing behind you.
- At their signal, walk briskly down the slope… and the magic happens: the ground gently moves away.
5) In Flight
- Sitting comfortably, you enjoy the 360º view above the vineyards and the valley.
- Depending on conditions, the pilot can:
- Extend the flight by using thermals.
- Perform some dynamic turns (only if you are comfortable).
- Let you hold the controls for a few moments (optional and supervised).
- Photos/videos: they can be taken in flight or upon landing; inquire at reception.
6) Landing
- The pilot aligns with the runway; you straighten up and walk 1–2 steps upon touchdown.
- Debriefing, big smiles, and often a little moment at the vineyard to extend the experience.
Sensations: What to Expect?
- Takeoff: an impression not of falling, but of sitting in the air.
- In flight: it’s stable and silent; you can talk as if on a chairlift.
- No vertigo: vertigo mostly occurs when in contact with the ground; in the air, it disappears for the vast majority of people.
Safety: Our Commitments
- Certified and experienced pilots.
- Revised and approved equipment.
- Strict weather procedures.
- “Go/no go” decisions based on safety, never on time pressure.
